What's on at LILAC
Kia ora

LILAC is humming so come on in for some great reading plus our monthly events: Book Group, and Lesbians do Lunch!  And we are excited about Featherston Booktown.

Featherston Booktown Karukatea Festival
Friday 12
th  - Sunday 14th May

Not a LILAC event - but we are always interested in lit festivals, especially where lesbian authors are speaking. This year there are sessions including Joanne Drayton and Renée, and Gina Cole among others. Plus artist Robin White! Check out the Featherston Booktown website - and book your tickets on eventfinda. Some sessions have already sold out!

Events planned at the LILAC Lounge for 2023

The Collective have come up with a list of events, with details still to be firmed up.

May and June: A FAB night at the LILAC Lounge for younger women
August: Quiz night
September: Spring Art Exhibition opening
October: Lesbian Herstory Month event
November: AGM
Film fundraisers whenever we spot an interesting movie

There will also be a couple of Coming Out meetups for women who are in the process of, or who have recently, come out. The first one will be held in the LILAC Lounge on June 10th - pop in anytime between 2 – 4pm.

We welcome suggestions from members of events they would like to see at LILAC, and could help organise and run.

Lesbians do Lunch

Thursday 18th May 11am-2pm

This is a recent addition to LILAC's monthly calendar - the Third Thursday of the month.

Drop in with your lunch for a natter - we will provide tea and coffee.

Members, former members and your lezzie friends are all welcome. It's a good opportunity for out of town women to flash the gold card, do their messages, and then have a social lunch!

Art at LILAC

Current exhibitions at LILAC

The current exhibition at LILAC is a display of Alison Bechdel's calendars from the 1990s, from a private collection.
Too young to remember Alison's Dykes to watch out for comic strips? We have the books at LILAC. And check her website - there's a blog post about her visit to Paekākāriki in 2014!

Also on display are card reproductions of paintings by Wilhelmina Irving, an Indonesian-born woman of Dutch heritage who spent her adult life in New Zealand.

DIY Exhibitions at LILAC
