What's on at LILAC
Kia ora

LILAC is humming so come on in for some great reading plus our monthly events: Book Group, and Lesbians do Lunch!  And we are excited about Featherston Booktown.

Featherston Booktown Karukatea Festival
Friday 12
th  - Sunday 14th May

Not a LILAC event - but we are always interested in lit festivals, especially where lesbian authors are speaking. This year there are sessions including Joanne Drayton and Renee, and Gina Cole among others. Plus artist Robin White! Check out the Featherston Booktown website - and book your tickets on eventfinda.

If there is enough interest we could organise car pooling from Wellington and Kapiti, but book your tickets first!

LILAC Fair Saturday 1st April  - review

The LILAC Fair was held on Saturday 1 April and thanks to the support of our stallholders and those coming in to purchase items, we raised over $1000 for LILAC. The homemade jams, pickles and chutney were a hit, as were the succulents, 2nd hand books, and home baking to name a few. Those promoting various organisations such as our wonderful supporters the Armstrong and Arthur Charitable Trust for Lesbians looked to be having lots of interesting conversations with our members and the public. The raffle was drawn at the end of the day and was won by Sal Elborn. Once again, thanks so much to our members and the wider community for your support.

Open Day at LILAC

LILAC's Open Day on Saturday 11th March as part of Wellington Pride Festival was a success with a steady stream of women visiting, and some signing up as members.

Remember to bring your Lessie friends in for a visit any time we are open!

Lesbians who Lunch

Thursday 20th April 11am-2pm

This is a new event on LILAC's monthly calendar - the Third Thursday of the month.

Drop in with your lunch for a natter - we will provide tea and coffee.

Members, former members and your lezzie friends are all welcome.

Art at LILAC

Current exhibitions at LILAC

  • The current exhibition at LILAC is a display of Alison Bechdel's calendars from the 1990s, from Sue's private collection.
Too young to remember Alison's Dykes to watch out for comic strips? We have them at LILAC. And check her website - there's a blog post about her visit to Paekakariki in 2014!
  • There is also a display of paint sketches by Lizzie Kerr.
