What's on at LILAC
Kia ora

LILAC is humming so come on in for some great reading plus our monthly events: Book Group, plus Lesbians do Lunch! We are having an open day in March as part of the Wellington Pride Festival. And our big event is the LILAC Fair on April 1st.

LILAC Fair Saturday 1st April 10:30am-3pm ... SAVE the date

LILAC have booked the Thistle Hall to hold a lesbian fair, partly as a fund raiser, but also as an opportunity for the community to gather and socialise. It will be a great opportunity for the arty and crafty amongst us to show or sell their creations. We’ll also have quality second-hand books, bric a brac, food, raffles and more. Lesbian organisations are welcome to host information stalls.

Fill in the Expressions of interest form to register your interest in having a stall - tell your lesbian friends who might be interested. Be in soon as the stalls are filling fast.

Download the Fair poster to share.

If any members are keen to help us organise the fair, please contact a Collective member or email lilac@lesbian.net.nz.

Note that LILAC Library will be closed on Fair Day.

Open Day at LILAC

LILAC is holding an Open Day on Saturday 11th March 11am-2pm to coincide with the Wellington Pride Festival.

There will be a display of lesbian classics from LILAC's collections ... from way back last century to more recent!

This is a good opportunity for women who are interested in joining LILAC to drop in, have a look around and chat with Collective members. Light refreshments will be available.

Tell your Lessie friends - bring them in for a visit!

Lesbians who Lunch

Thursday 16th March 11am-2pm

This is a new event on LILAC's monthly calendar - the Third Thursday of the month.

Drop in with your lunch for a natter - we will provide tea and coffee.

Members, former members and your lezzie friends are all welcome.

Art at LILAC

Current exhibitions at LILAC

  • The current exhibition at LILAC is a display of Alison Bechdel's calendars from the 1990s, from Sue's private collection.
Too young to remember Alison's Dykes to watch out for comic strips? We have them at LILAC. And check her website - there's a blog post about her visit to Paekakariki in 2014!
  • There is also a display of paint sketches by Lizzie Kerr.
