LILAC is over its holiday break so come on in for some great reading. Book Group and Sketch Group are resuming. We are having an open day in March as part of the Wellington Pride Festival. Plus our big event is the LILAC Fair on April 1st.
A big thank you to the many women who came to our movie fundraiser - a screening of Tár.
LILAC Fair Saturday April 1st 2023 ... SAVE the date
LILAC have booked the Thistle Hall to hold a lesbian fair, partly as a fund raiser, but also as an opportunity for the community to gather and socialise. It will be a great opportunity for the arty and crafty amongst us to show or sell their creations. We’ll also have quality second-hand books, bric a brac, food, raffles and more. Lesbian organisations are welcome to host information stalls.
This is a good opportunity for women who are interested in joining LILAC to drop in, have a look around and chat with Collective members. Light refreshments will be available.
Tell your Lessie friends - bring them in for a visit!
Lesbian Summer Camp
Want to hang out with lesbians for a weekend?
The Lesbian Summer Camp is being held this year on Friday 17 - Monday 20th February.
The organisers have booked a river lodge in a venue near Otaki, situated in relaxed and beautiful surroundings, and they warmly invite you to join us. They look forward to a time of pleasure: art, politics, sport, good food, fun and lesbian energy.
Offers to lead workshops and activities are welcome and there will be a loosely constructed programme with room for innovation. There will be time to relax, socialise, and/or to steal away into the wilderness. We will be promoting LILAC at the event.
Be in quickly as they need to confirm numbers by Friday 10th February at the latest.
The current exhibition at LILAC is a display of Alison Bechdel's calendars from the 1990s, from Sue's private collection.
Too young to remember Alison's Dykes to watch out for comic strips? We have them at LILAC. And check her website - there's a blog post about her visit to Paekakariki in 2014!
