What's on at LILAC in December
Kia ora

Our summer holiday break, a movie fundraiser in January, the LILAC Fair in April, another Coming Out meet-up, December Book Group and new titles coming soon

Holiday break coming up

LILAC will close at 2pm on Saturday 17 December, then reopen on Thursday 12 January 11am-2pm.
Come in soon for your holiday reading - we've added some outstanding titles to the collection this year so let's get them moving!

Movie fundraiser - Tar

Sunday 29th January 2023, 6pm - Light House Cuba, Wigan St
all tickets $25

"The international world of classical music viewed through a famed conductor’s preparations to record Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 might seem like rarefied subject matter, strictly for highbrow aficionados. But Tar is a mesmerizing character study, its fine-grained details extending with needling precision into the shadowy recesses between its oblique scenes. The key talking point will be Cate Blanchett’s astonishing performance — flinty, commandingly self-possessed and ever so slowly splintering under pressure." Holywood Reporter

It would be great to see you there, we really appreciate your support!

Book now  - buy your tickets:

  • Please deposit/transfer your ticket payment of $25 into the LILAC bank account: Westpac 030502 0030496 00 using your name and 'movie' as the reference
  • Then email librarian@lesbian.net.nz to receive confirmation of your booking.

Tickets can be collected in the lobby from 5.30pm
Running time 158 min.

Lesbian Coming Out Meet-up at LILAC Saturday 10th Dec 1-3pm

An event next weekend at LILAC for women who have recently or are thinking about coming out as lesbian to meet in a relaxed and supportive social environment. Pass it on - let your friends know!

Lesbian Fair Saturday April 1st 2023 ... SAVE the date

LILAC have booked the Thistle Hall to hold a lesbian fair, partly as a fund raiser, but also as an opportunity for the community to gather and socialise. It will be a great opportunity for the arty and crafty amongst us to show or sell their creations. We’ll also have quality second-hand books, bric a brac, food, raffles and more. Lesbian organisations are welcome to host information stalls.

Fill in the Expressions of interest form to register your interest in having a stall.

If any members are keen to help us organise the fair, please contact a Collective member or email lilac@lesbian.net.nz

It's cosy at the LILAC Lounge. Come along for December Book Group or just pop in to get some holiday reading or movies. Tea, coffee and bikkies available.

Book Group Wednesday 12th December 6.15  - 7.30pm

This month Book Group is featuring recent-ish New Zealand fiction - check the titles at LILAC on our tinycat catalogue.
