Rising Tide – lesbian crime fiction set in Wellington

Wednesday 14 April 6:30pm @ LILAC, level 2, 187 Willis St

Rising Tide is the second book about Lauren Fraser, a reluctant sleuth. Lauren’s first adventure, told in The One That Got Away, had her solving a cold case, a poison plot against David Lange. In Rising Tide, one of her friends persuades her to look into the recent drowning of a well-known climate activist.

Lois Cox & Hilary Lapsley, who write as Jennifer Palgrave, will talk about how they collaborate and why they think it is important to have their lesbian heroine living in Wellington. They will discuss the serious themes that underpin their light fiction, and how their work is an example of the way the ‘cosy crime’ genre has evolved. They will look at where their work sits in relation to other lesbian crime novels.

Drinks and nibbles from 6.30pm with the presentation from Lois and Hilary at 7pm.

Koha admission. We look forward to seeing you here.
